At Navega, we see manufacturing as the visible part of our philosophy. Every phase has the same goal: for the shoe to support the foot without interfering, and for the design not to come at the expense of comfort.
It all starts with a silhouette. We seek clean lines and shapes that will stand the test of time, but always based on the principles of barefoot footwear: an anatomical toe box, zero drop, and a flexible sole. Designing this way requires us to think about each model from the inside out. First the foot, then the shape.
The last is the starting point for every shoe, and with barefoot shoes, it’s where almost everything is decided. We develop our patterns using lasts that follow the actual shape of the foot—wider in the toe area—so that the space isn’t just an afterthought but an integral part of the structure.
Before going into production, each model goes through several prototype stages. We test how it bends, how it stays in place without being too tight, and how it feels when walking. If anything is extra, we remove it. If anything rubs, we redo it.
We choose each material based on how it feels and how it ages: supple leathers, durable threads, and understated hardware that serves its purpose without stealing the spotlight. We also pay close attention to color and texture, because a beautiful shoe starts with the materials that make it up.
The pieces are cut with precision to make the best use of the material and ensure that each pair is identical to the last. Next comes assembly: joining the cut piece, the insole, and a thin, flexible sole that lets you feel the ground.
Before they go out, each pair is inspected: seams, joints, finishes, and fit. It's the last chance to make sure the shoe lives up to its promise, both inside and out.
